Madhumita Malik - Footsteps towards Economic Empowerment

MadhumitaMalik, a 27 years old young woman from semi urban area of Gopalnagar, near to Joka, Kolkata. Her story was not different from the less privileged women in the society of India. She has only basic literacy.Her husband is a daily wage labourer. They have two children. Life was become difficult for them to bear the family expenses. Through SHG’s group she was connected with OAR. OAR works for women empowerment in India and help them to overcome social, political and economic barriers. OAR trained women who have not been given choice or opportunities to become financially independent.

One year back she took a significant life changing step towards life and started working in OAR Duck Farm project. She believes that OAR makes a positive change in their family. She is capable to increase family income and savings money for future. Madhumita Malik – “I am capable of making informed decision in the absence of my husband that will make him proud as his wife”.
