Rahul Majhi - Organic Farming Trainer

Rahul Majhi, a 24 years migrant labourer from Bihar came to Kolkata in search of work with a dream of better future. Journey from Bihar to Kolkata leaving his wife and children was not pleasant and smooth at all. As a migrant labourer he faced the resultant problems of exploitation by contractors and recruitments agents. The hope for ‘better future’ however, infused the power in him to struggle against destiny. He got an opportunity to undergo training in organic farming as a business organized by OAR. OAR believes that livelihood generation for backward communities’ needs investment in social capital which can come only through sustained capacity building, beginning with youths and adolescent.

Currently he is working in OAR organic farm. And become an organic farming trainer. The success of Rahul Majhi becomes an eye-opener for the farmers of his native villages with a trend of shifting to improved agriculture from the old age practices.
